2012-11-13 [Duredhel]: Science issue :O, you'd need a powerful electric current and an electromagnet for railgun, Lucas cannot control electricity so he couldn't do either. Jonas and Light (be it in conjunction to Lucas or not) would be better suited to make railguns.
For example, the example of a solenoidal magnetic field, the solenoidal magnet would not create the drag you need for a rail gun. A powerful electric pulse running through it would.

2012-11-14 [AccountUnavaili able]: In theory, Lucas could manipulate electricity, to the extent of my knowledge anyways.

Magnetism and electricity are different things mate. You modelled his powers after Magneto, right? Ever seen him hurling lightning?
Its a whole other set of powers altogether, it'd be like Jonas suddenly levitating things with electricity.
2012-11-14 [Figgy]: Now, if he was in his 'metal' state, or whatever, he could CONDUCT electricity from an external source through his body, of course not without harm to himself, but I don't see him being able to manipulate it.
2012-11-14 [AccountUnavaili able]: Magnetism is an influence on electrons, moving the electrons creates a charged particle? Also Magneto can generate electromagneti
2012-11-14 [Duredhel]: Thematically its a different set of powers :>
Might be good to read "What not do with powers."
Regardless, creating an magnetic field through an electric current is different thematically than mantaining a permanent magnetic field. I imagine one allowing for electric attacks something like railguns whereas the other one is better suited, from a storytelling perspective, to remote manipulation of objects. Ideally you pick one and stick to it rather than try to bleed your character all over the place.
2012-11-14 [AccountUnavaili able]: Again, my physics is rusty, but I'm pretty sure I'm right with Magneto, and I'm not gonna have him firing lightning bolts or anything, was just wondering if the theory was right :3
2012-11-14 [Duredhel]: A magnetic pulse, even without an electric origin, will fry electronics pretty bad (try putting a magnet on your TV XD). And magnetism and electricity are fundamentally linked, however, the railgun is very specific to needing a powerful pulse of electricity. It's why I suggested Jonas and Light. They have the required set of power, electricity in bursts. Lucas's power is related to an entirely different subset, controlled, remote manipulation.
I'm guessing you could say it's the difference between controlling steam and ice, they're both in the same spectrum but you can't say they're the same power.
